About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Pre-Sales Consultant who has lived and breathed the manufacturing and FMCG world. This person is the bridge between our sales team and our clients’ technical reality. They walk into a factory, understand the pain before it’s explained, scope the right solution, pick the right delivery team, and write a proposal that wins.

This is not a desk job. You will be on client sites, in meetings with plant managers and production engineers, and working hand-in-hand with our technical delivery teams to ensure we promise what we can deliver — and deliver what we promise.

Key Responsibilities

Client-Facing & Discovery

• Join the sales team on client discovery meetings, factory walkthroughs, and technical assessments
• Identify manufacturing pain points, gaps, and opportunities by observing operations and reviewing existing infrastructure
• Build trust with client-side technical stakeholders (plant engineers, production managers, IT/OT teams, quality managers)
• Present technical solutions in a clear, business-value-driven way to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Technical Assessment & Solution Design

• Assess client environments: PLCs, SCADA systems, MES, ERP, historians, network architecture, production lines
• Map out current-state architecture and propose future-state integration solutions
• Define integration approaches for PLC-to-SCADA, SCADA-to-MES, MES-to-ERP connectivity
• Evaluate data flows, communication protocols, and middleware requirements
• Design solution architectures for track & trace, serialization, OEE dashboards, and real-time production monitoring

Proposal & Scoping

• Write clear, professional technical proposals and Statements of Work (SOW)
• Define project scope, deliverables, timelines, milestones, assumptions, and exclusions
• Estimate effort and cost based on realistic understanding of what it takes to deliver
• Identify and document project risks and mitigation strategies

Resource Planning & Handover

• Determine the right skill mix for each project: automation engineers, integration developers, data engineers, project managers
• Assess whether to use internal resources or bring in external specialists
• Hand over scoped projects to the delivery team with clear documentation and context
• Support delivery teams during early phases to ensure alignment with what was sold

Core Project Types

• Line Integration: Connecting production/packaging lines (PLCs) to SCADA, MES, and ERP systems
• SCADA-to-ERP Integration: Bridging shop floor operations and business systems using middleware and standard protocols
• Track & Trace / Serialization: Implementing traceability solutions for FMCG, food & beverage, and pharma-adjacent industries
• Industrial Data Solutions: OEE dashboards, production monitoring, historian implementation, real-time analytics
• IT/OT Convergence: Helping clients bridge the gap between IT and OT infrastructure securely

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics, Automation, or Computer Engineering
• Relevant certifications are a plus (Siemens, Rockwell, Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware, ISA)

Experience (Minimum 5 Years)

• Hands-on experience working in or consulting for manufacturing and/or FMCG environments
• Proven experience with industrial automation systems (PLCs, SCADA, HMI, MES)
• Experience with at least one major ERP system (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) from an integration standpoint
• Track record of writing technical proposals, SOWs, or technical documentation
• Experience working at or with system integrators, automation vendors, or industrial technology companies

Technical Knowledge – Must-Have

• PLCs: Siemens (S7-300/400/1200/1500), Allen-Bradley/Rockwell (ControlLogix, CompactLogix), Schneider
• SCADA/HMI: Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware, Siemens WinCC, FactoryTalk View
• Protocols: OPC-UA, OPC-DA, MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP
• MES: AVEVA MES, Siemens Opcenter, or similar platforms and concepts
• ERP Integration: SAP PP/MM/QM, IDocs, RFC, web services
• ISA-95: Understanding of the ISA-95 model and production data flow across levels

Technical Knowledge – Nice-to-Have

• Track & Trace / serialization platforms
• Data historians (OSIsoft PI, AVEVA Historian, InfluxDB)
• Industrial IoT platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Siemens MindSphere)
• Database knowledge (SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
• Networking basics (VLANs, firewalls, DMZ between IT/OT)
• ISA-88 batch control standards
• Dashboarding tools (Power BI, Grafana)

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication: can explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong written English and Arabic (French is a plus)
• Confident in client-facing situations: meetings, presentations, factory walkthroughs
• Analytical thinking: can diagnose problems quickly and propose practical solutions
• Organized and detail-oriented when writing proposals and scoping projects
