Internship overview:
The Programs & Partnerships Intern will work closely with the leadership team to support the identification, development, and management of funding and partnership opportunities. This is a hands-on, generalist role suited for someone who is curious, detail-oriented, and eager to develop expertise in resource acquisition and mobilization.
The intern will not only help identify opportunities but will also actively contribute to drafting proposals, designing programs, engaging stakeholders, and tracking progress. We are looking for a self-starter who is comfortable learning on the job and is genuinely interested in building a career in grants, partnerships, and strategic resource mobilization.
Key responsibilities:
1. Opportunity Research & Pipeline Management
- Research and track relevant grant opportunities, funding calls, and potential partnership leads across public, private, and philanthropic sectors.
- Maintain and update the organisation's opportunity pipeline, ensuring timely follow-through on deadlines and submission windows.
- Analyse funding landscapes and flag strategic opportunities aligned with Nucleus Ventures' programmatic priorities.
- Monitor announcements from institutional donors, foundations, government agencies, and corporate social responsibility programmes.
2. Proposal & Grant Writing
- Draft, edit, and finalise grant proposals, concept notes, and letters of inquiry in line with funder requirements and organisational voice.
- Support the development of partnership proposals, MoUs, and collaboration frameworks for strategic relationships.
- Research and integrate evidence, data, and best practices into proposals to strengthen their quality and competitiveness.
- Assist in compiling supporting documents, budgets, and annexures required for submissions.
3. Program Design Support
- Help codify and document program design ideas — translating conceptual thinking into structured logic frameworks, theories of change, and implementation plans.
- Support the development of program briefs, pitch decks, and concept papers for new initiatives.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track program outcomes and impact.
- Assist in preparing reports and updates for funders and partners on active programs.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Communications
- Support communication with partners, donors, and stakeholders through emails, follow-ups, and meeting coordination.
- Assist in preparing presentations, briefs, and materials for meetings and events.
- Help maintain relationships with partners through regular outreach.
- Occasionally support or attend events, meetings, or networking sessions as needed.
Qualifications & Background
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in resource mobilisation, fundraising, partnerships, or program development, through coursework, volunteer work, or prior experience.
- Strong written communication skills in English, clear, persuasive, and professional.
- Basic familiarity with the nonprofit, development sector, or social enterprise landscape is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesise complex information clearly.
- Strong writing ability, able to adapt tone and style for different audiences, from formal funders to external partners.
- Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Comfortable working with project management tools (e.g. Clickup, Asana, Notion, or similar).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or Google Workspace.
- Collaborative team player who is also capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Mindset & Disposition
- Genuinely curious and excited about the intersection of programs, partnerships, and funding strategy.
- Open to learning on the job, asks questions, seeks feedback, and improves iteratively.
- Driven by purpose and motivated to contribute to work that creates tangible social impact.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and agile in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Aspires to build a career in resource acquisition, mobilisation, grant management, or strategic partnerships.
What you will gain:
This is a structured learning opportunity, not just administrative support. As a Programs & Partnerships Intern at Nucleus Ventures, you will:
- Gain hands-on exposure to the full lifecycle of grant and partnership development — from prospecting to proposal submission to reporting.
- Develop a professional portfolio of written proposals, concept notes, and stakeholder communications.
- Build a foundational understanding of program design, impact frameworks, and organisational strategy.
- Receive direct mentorship from senior team members and meaningful feedback on your work.
- Expand your professional network across funders, partners, and sector leaders.
- Position yourself competitively for roles in resource mobilisation, program management, or strategic partnerships upon graduation.
