About the Role 

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer II to join our Product Engineering organization. You will build reliable, scalable backend applications and services for our core banking platform products and collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and QA to deliver end-to-end client solutions in an Agile environment. 

What You Will Do 

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and services that meet business and product requirements. 
• Write efficient, maintainable, and scalable code following engineering best practices. 
• Build software that performs reliably under load and meets or exceeds performance expectations. 
• Document software design, code, and processes to support future maintenance and team understanding. 
• Collaborate with other Software Engineers, Product Managers, and QA within Agile project teams. 
• Work with internal and client-facing teams to design and build end-to-end solutions. 
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain high quality standards. 
• Contribute to the evolution of the product toward AI-enabled capabilities. 

What You Need to Succeed 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 
• 3–5+ years of backend software engineering experience, preferably in banking, fintech, or enterprise SaaS environments.
• Experience with streaming/messaging platforms such as Kafka and frameworks such as Spring. 
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP). 
• Solid understanding of design patterns and software architecture principles. 
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues. 
• Adaptability to changing requirements and technologies, with an interest in learning unfamiliar tools and business concepts and staying current with engineering practices. 
• Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in English, in writing and conversation. 
• Ownership beyond assigned sprint tasks, including investigating problems, seeking out the people and context needed, making progress independently where possible, and raising blockers early with a clear account of what has been tried. 
• Ability to work well across Product, Engineering, and customer-facing teams, with an interest in understanding the banking problem behind each technical requirement. 

Nice to Have 

• Experience with banking platforms, financial products, pricing, billing, or deal and contract management workflows. 
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and practices. 
• Experience working in an Agile delivery model with Product and QA teams.

• Backend services are reliable, performant, and free from critical defects. 
• Code is well-documented, maintainable, and easy for the team to build on. 
• This engineer is a trusted, collaborative contributor within their Agile team.
