Job Description
The Spanish-Speaking Surgical Coordinator plays a crucial role in coordinating all aspects of surgical procedures within a medical facility. This position is responsible for managing the surgical scheduling process, from initial patient contact to post-operative care. The Surgical Coordinator must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as proficiency in relevant software systems. This role operates within a professional medical office environment and requires both desk-bound and active engagement with patients and colleagues.
Essential Functions
- Serve as a point of contact for all surgical patients, handling inquiries and communication between the spanish-speaking patients, our doctors, and the surgical facilities we collaborate with.
- Meet with patients in the practice (remotely) to schedule and discuss the doctor’s surgical plans. This includes completing all consents, pre-and post-surgery medication orders and upselling surgical options, if applicable.
- Work with respective surgical facilities to secure surgical time and ensure necessary administrative clearance is obtained in sync with facility deadlines.
- Work with the patient's insurance company to obtain all necessary documents and authorization for payment.
- Work directly with the patients, answering questions, following-up on necessary paperwork and clearances, confirming the schedules and determining and collecting payment.
- Produce and accurately complete the patient's surgical chart ensuring all testing, clearances, surgical options and other paperwork is completed.
- Collecting payments and sending patients prescriptions to their pharmacies.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Full professional proficiency in both Spanish and English.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including data entry and experience with electronic medical records systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and information security.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting or customer service role is preferred, but not required. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
